Sanvers gave me hope that there is life and love AFTER love.

I was in the lowest place in my life after my marriage fell apart. I felt lost, alone, and hopeless that I would never find love again. To escape my heartbreak, I returned to fandoms. While searching for queer media, I came across a compilation of "best TV wlw kisses" and one of them was Sanvers. It was their first kiss in the bar and seeing Alex's devastation after being rejected, I HAD to know what happened next. I binged Supergirl to get there and was properly introduced to Sanvers.

Maggie's story touched me deeply and while my own story was nowhere near as hard as hers, she gave me hope that despite experiencing tragedy, I could keep going and "have a real, full, happy life." She experienced something horrible but she kept going. She survived and found love and people who cared for her again and that's the hope I hold onto for myself.

I also owe the start of my mental health journey to Chyler Leigh and Sanvers. If I hadn't found Sanvers, I wouldn't have discovered Chyler's writing that helped me accept that it was okay to ask for help. I did and I'm in a MUCH better place and frame of mind. I have my bad days still but I have hope now…hope that I will keep going forward, rise above who and what hurt me, and find that real, full, happy life I now KNOW I deserve.
