Our Mission

In 2018, the Sanvers fandom launched the True Colors United “Maggie Matters” campaign. In a little over a month, we raised over $11,000 to help end youth homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community. In the spring of 2019, we revived the campaign, this time lifting our overall total to more than $24,000.

As the campaign came to a close, we decided to form SanversUnited in order to create a platform for ongoing fundraising efforts. The site features merchandise with Sanvers-related themes, including items that have been created by members of the Sanvers fandom. All profits from the sale of these items go directly to the “Maggie Matters” campaign.

Our goal is simple: To continue to raise awareness about youth homelessness in the LGBTQ+ community, and to do what we can to help eradicate it.

True Colors United

“WE BELIEVE IN A WORLD WHERE EVERY LGBTQ+ YOUNG PERSON, WHEREVER THEY LIVE, IS CELEBRATED FOR BEING THEIR AUTHENTIC SELVES.”

True Colors United (formerly True Colors Fund) is a non-profit organization dedicated to implementing ‘innovative solutions to youth homelessness that focus on the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ young people.’ The organization, founded by Cyndi Lauper in 2008, represents everything Maggie Sawyer and Sanvers stand for: hope, strength and acceptance. True Colors immediately seemed like the perfect fit for our fundraising initiative, offering us the chance to help real life Maggie Sawyers across the United States.

True Colors United’s mission is clear: “If we can ensure that services are safe for and affirming of the most impacted young people, we can be confident that they’ll be safe and affirming for everyone. We believe that youth homelessness is a community issue. Real change can happen when people come together with a shared vision.”
