I came out and found myself immediately in a relationship. When that relationship ended 3 years later I was lost, feeling unworthy and like I would never be enough for anyone. I also realised I wasn't comfortable being gay, despite having a girlfriend that I wanted to marry for so long. I didn't know where I fit.

Enter Maggie Sawyer. She was everything I aspired to be. She was confident, unapologetically herself and had a strength that I didn't even know I wanted.

She made me realise that one day I would be enough because I was good as I was. Just because it didn't work out with one person, didn't mean someone else wouldn't come along and love me for who I was. Discovering Maggie and Sanvers helped me find my place in the world, and it gave me an international family that I love with all my heart.

Maggie is in me, and even now on my darkest days, I pick myself up, shake myself off and ask myself: "What would Maggie do?" And the answer is always that she would keep fighting.

Maggie is a fighter and she taught me how to be a fighter too.
