"Maggie Sawyer and Sanvers taught me that it’s okay to be who I am." - By Anon
Maggie Sawyer and Sanvers taught me that it’s okay to be who I am, that what I’m feeling is normal and that I’m not alone in these feelings. I didn’t discover Supergirl until the start of 2018 and I found it because I was looking for shows that had LGBTQIA+ representation. I saw a few Sanvers clips on YouTube and knew that this was a special story that I could relate to on so many different levels.
Whilst personally Alex’s story resonated with me a bit more, the episode where Maggie tells Alex she deserves a “real, full, happy life” was what made me decide that I would come out that year. This is something I’d been struggling with for 7 years but I did it that November! I’m lucky to be blessed with an amazing family but I know so many like Maggie Sawyer who aren’t, so I’m so glad I can support something like this organisation that helps those people.
